QA/QC Field Inspector (Instrumentation & Controls)

You’ll be the last line of defense before systems go live—protecting reliability, safety, and client confidence.

What You’ll Do
- Inspect, test, and validate instrumentation systems and control panels in the field to ensure compliance with NEC, UL 508A & 698A, and project specifications
- Perform I/O checks and functional testing on PLC-based systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Verify panel builds, wiring accuracy, and instrument loop integrity (4–20mA)
- Power up and troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480V (AC/DC)
- Identify issues, document findings, and drive corrective actions that improve quality across projects
- Collaborate with field, engineering, and fabrication teams to solve problems and prevent repeat issues
- Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control drawings to ensure systems are installed correctly
- Utilize tools like ProCore, BIM360, or similar platforms to track inspections and quality data
- Support continuous improvement by sharing insights, coaching teams, and developing best practices
What a Typical Day Looks Like
- Split time between hands-on field inspections and documentation/reporting
- Work closely with crews to identify and resolve issues in real-time
- Use testing equipment to validate system performance and ensure everything is wired and configured correctly
- Participate in site activities that keep projects moving safely and on schedule
What You BringRequired
- Associate Degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience with industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, or controls
- Strong understanding of electrical wiring, testing, and troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
Preferred
- 6+ years of field or QA/QC experience in controls or instrumentation
- Experience with UL panel standards (508A / 698A)
- Familiarity with PLC platforms and industrial communication systems
- EE98J or similar certification

Pay: $35.21 - $40.00 per hour
