DESCRIPTION:
Vertilite is a fast-growing, well-funded start-up company located in the heart of Silicon Valley – San Jose, California, focusing on optoelectronic device design and manufacturing. Our main products include VCSEL chips for sensing and Time of Flight (ToF) modules for 3D sensing, NIR illumination and Lidar.
We are in a stage to expand our product portfolio, to include InP based optoelectronics devices for optical communication applications. The successful candidate will be well educated in related area, self-motivated and passionate with new technologies. This position requires deep understanding in semiconductor laser device physics and strong technical skills. You will be working closely with engineering and product teams in both US and Asia to develop practical models to solve existing technological issues, as well as to develop new technology and new products meeting future market’s needs.
Key Responsibilities:
· Understand device physics and develop physical models including optical, electrical, and thermal aspects in semiconductor lasers and modulators
· Design and develop InP based transmission device, such as DFB laser, EML, tunable laser, etc, including device design and modeling, mask layout, wafer fab process flow design, packaging, etc.
· Data analysis to build correlation between performance and designs.
· Work closely with epitaxial engineer, fab integration engineer, product engineer, packaging/testing, and foundry for new product development.
Qualifications/Requirements:
· Deep understanding in device physics, strong analytical skills.
· Strong capability in optoelectronic device design and modeling.
· Hands-on experience in semiconductor laser design, wafer processing, reliability and failure analysis. Hands-on design experience in DFB lasers is a plus.
· Verbal and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin. Experience in Layout software, Matlab or other device simulation software is a plus.
· Self-motivated, resourceful, trustworthy, and team player.
· Ph.D. Degree in EE, optics, or physics. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
