Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Product Formulation Chemist to join our vibrant research and development team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of creating, optimizing, and validating formulations for a diverse range of products. The Product Formulation Chemist conducts lab research and analysis to develop or improve quality and performance of household cleaning products (cleaners, air fresheners, disinfectants, stain removers). Responsibilities include evaluating fragrances, preparing samples, running routine experiments, benchmarking, and maintaining technical records. Your expertise will drive the development of safe, effective, and high-quality formulations that meet regulatory standards and market demands. Duties
- Carry out experiments to evaluate performance of cleaning products in order to identify unique characteristics that help leverage new products on the market
- Perform parallel comparison experiments of existing formulas to market standards or competitive products to ensure they meet established standards and customer expectation.
- Design, develop, and optimize formulations for new products, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive experiments utilizing organic chemistry techniques and analytical chemistry tools such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), spectroscopy, and chromatography to analyze raw materials and finished products.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to scale laboratory formulations to production levels while maintaining product integrity and consistency.
- Perform stability studies, quality control testing, and validation procedures to confirm product efficacy and safety over time.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of experimental procedures, results, and intellectual property considerations in accordance with industry standards.
- Stay current with advancements in biochemistry, molecular biology, and industry regulations to continuously improve formulation strategies.
- Lead stability testing (aging, temperature) and package compatibility
- Monitor and document chemical and physical properties (pH, % solids, cloud point) of prototype and finished formula.
Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (or related technical field); Surfactant science knowledge
- Experience: 1–2 years relevant laboratory/industrial experience
- Technical Skills: Analytical chemistry methods; record-keeping; data analysis; QC methods and manufacturing support
- Problem-Solving: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in complex, variable environments
- Physical Demands / Work Environment: Routine lab and office work; standing/walking; lifting/moving up to 10 lbs.
